Red Panda
The Red Panda is an incredibly cute, yet surprisingly tough species from the Eastern Himalayas. Often mistaken for a relative of the giant black and white panda, the two species are unrelated, even though some of their natural habitat does overlap.
Lincolnshire’s only Red Pandas, two sisters called Ruby & Rose live at Woodside, and were bred specifically for us by Birmingham Wildlife Park.

Time For My Close-Up!
Biologically classed as a carnivore because of its sharp teeth and claws, the Red Panda is actually a ‘vegetarian’ carnivore, choosing to mainly eat bamboo!

Topsy Turvy!
Once mature, we plan to introduce a male and allow Ruby and Rose to breed, contributing to the international breeding program they are currently a part of.
Since arriving at Woodside in 2019, the pair are slowly becoming more confident. They are often seen relaxing in, and eating, the centre-piece of their enclosure, which is a sixty foot tall Ash tree!
